Dandies On TV: The Young Gents Of Gossip Girl

This post is long in coming. I had to do it. The young prep-school guys of the CW's Gossip Girl are very new-school-dandy. Particularly the character Chuck Bass, played by Ed Westwick. From the private school uniform neck tie, to the pocket squares, bow ties, and cravats, these guys have to take partial responsibility for the dandy revival amongst the hip, under-20's crowd.

Dandy On TV: Survivor's Bob

Full disclosure. I don't watch the show. But I was urged to check out Bow Tie Bob on the 17th season of Survivor. He apparently was nick-named because of his constant use of bow ties, even through the most rigorous challenges. The photo to the left is from the most recent episode when the participants were all given banners to wear and Bob turned his into a bow tie (with the Survivor logo showing).

Dandies On TV: From G's To Gent's Fonzworth Bentley

Wow. I guess it just shows the reemergence of the dandy in our modern world. MTV's reality show From G's To Gents chronicles 14 gangsters and their journey towards becoming proper gentlemen (and ultimately winning the $100,000 prize). The show is hosted by contemporary dandy, Fonzwoth Bentley, best known as having been Diddy's impeccably dressed personal assistant. It's pretty formulaic reality television but it's fascinating that MTV has gotten in on the act of promoting the dandy.
