Dandy Revisited - Dandies In Print: TIME Magazine

Over the next couple of weeks I'll be reposting some of my favorite posts from the past couple of years. Below is a post originally from October 17, 2008.

Last week's issue of Time Magazine featured a depression era photo of a soup line and the cover story questioned whether the U.S. could be heading into another depression. I was immediately struck by how the men in line were dressed. In that time of desperation it's amazing how well dressed they were. It made me start to think how accessories are key in a recession (or heaven forbid, a depression). Accessories are a great and inexpensive way of sprucing up your wardrobe with minimal investment. Following are photos of other depression-era dandys.

you are quite right, they are very well dressed. But back then nobody owned a sweat shirt and jeans were considered work dirty clothes. Sigh, it would be a boost in just moral in our society if people took more pride in what they wore
