The Beret: Accessory Of The Moment?
In November when Will of the blog A Treasury Of... posted some images of our lookbook, he wrote "I’m gonna go out on a limb and say that the beret is the next old-timey hat to make a modern man comeback." Then last month he wrote that he tried wearing a beret and "no matter how I folded or flopped it I never looked like a fine or remotely dandy gentleman, I just looked like a 1980s lady." We predicted a comeback ourselves this fall when we added one to the shop. Can YOU pull it off?

and not just for boys, sorry, men, but for girls as well.
There are berets and berets.
The beret in your look frame is the former.
I'm deeply divided.....I have a couple and they are very effective head warmers but they do hover on the edge of parody in an American environment (but not in Europe) in the same way that the Newsboy cap does but the the classic British large flat tweed cap doesn't......Impossible to tell why one works and the others don't but it's undoubtedly there......the wearers in your pics look great so you may be right that the Gallic look is in for a revival.
