New School Dandy Profile: Jason Burke

Over the past several months we have been introduced to many amazing people through our Facebook fan page. With this post we continue a regular series of profiles of New School Dandies. This week we feature Jason Burke of the blog L&F.

Where did you grow up and where do you live now? I was born and raised in Brooklyn but I currently reside in the minds of everyone reading this.

Where did you go to school? I attended a private school for the majority of my life.

What’s your occupation? I am a freelance writer.

When did you establish your personal style? Was there a pivotal moment? How has it changed? There honestly was a moment where everything just became clear to me that this is what I like and it isn't as long ago as many would like to believe. It was late last year when I fell into my comfort zone with style. Prior to then I was just trying everything to see what I like from what I don't like. I might have gone too far with some of those outfits but it was all for a good cause.

How would you describe your style? The best way to describe my style is not to try to describe my style because you will never figure it out. I do what is within my comfort zone style wise but my comfort zone just so happens to span the width of the world so I will wear just about anything and adjust it to my liking.

What are your sources of inspiration? I draw inspiration from the weather most of the time. The way the wind blows the leaves and the things that the clouds show me usually inspire me.

Who is your style icon? I acknowledge a lot of people as being stylish, some of them extremely stylish and then there are those that society deems "style icon's" some of which I agree with, but those are societies style icon's. I don't idolize anyone really, we are all human and there really is no difference between you and I so why would I?

What are your preferred dandy reading materials? I meditate more than I read. The professors can't even get me to read the required books.

Do you have a favorite website? The most visited website on my browser would have to be google. I like to look at my blogsite a lot but that's just because my picture's on it. Seriously though I'm a perfectionist and I am never satisfied.

What is your favorite personal item (non-clothing/accessories)? My favorite personal item would honestly have to be a basketball. I played for my high school team, I play every time I get a chance and I have probably played through any weather condition.

What is your favorite clothing article or accessory? I love them all so much I try not to show favoritism but right now my MJ denim is my second skin.

Where is your favorite or dream vacation spot? The answer to the question depends solely on the month in the year, the week in the month, the day in the week and the time of day.

Tell us the best kept secret in your city. The best kept secret in my city is still a secret; sorry but you must see the irony in me answering this question.

At which establishments would you consider yourself a regular? I'm a regular suspect at Starbucks Coffee Company and I think you all should be as well. There is also this bread shop in SoHo a block away from a Starbucks that I am in love with. Picture a whole shop that is dedicated to flour based pastries but it's not a bakery; amazing.

What would you be doing ten years from now? No one will be able to find me in 10 years.

What else do you want to tell us? My life is an open book so for anything else that you care to know just read the blog: http://www.officiallf.com.
