Summer Dandy
With the holiday weekend upon us, we announce that we're putting Formal Friday on hold for the summer. Since many of you are lucky enough to work in offices which observe Summer Fridays (working just half the day), we figured it might be a challenge to get guys to dress up. So instead we will be running a Summer Dandy feature each Friday. We love the contributions from our readers so we ask you to send us a photo taken any time during the week showing your interpretation of Summer Dandy. We want to see how you cope with the heat and yet still look your Fine And Dandy best. Contributions can be sent to info@FineAndDandyShop.com and will be posted each Friday through Labor Day. Summer, here we come!

Fine And Dandy Styled
Last fall we began offering complimentary style consultations and we learned that a lot of guys just wanted a little help in putting outfits together. A couple of weeks ago we began a series in which we pair several of our items together for a particular look. This is our Saturday farmers' market look. You know that lazy day: wake up late, brunch with friends, and a stroll through the farmers' market. It's a day to be a bit more casual but you still need to look good!

Dandy Accessory: Camouflage Neckerchief
Our neckerchiefs have sold very well this season, as have our Camouflage Handkerchiefs. So we decided to do a neckerchief in camo. Casual dandy!

Dandies In Photos: Robert E. Bryan
Several weeks ago my photographer friend Rose Callahan invited me to join her for a photo shoot of Robert E. Bryan at his apartment in NYC's East Village. Although I had never met Robert, I was familiar with him as he was the author of the book American Fashion Menswear and he was previously the men's fashion director for the The New York Times Magazine. I was soon reminded that I had photographed him at the Jazz Age Lawn Party on Governors Island two summers ago. Robert is a collector in the truest sense of the word (from art to records to clothing) and Rose and I left the shoot a bit giddy having had a small glimpse into his life. Here are a few favorite photos.

Formal Friday
Fridays have officially gone formal at FineAndDandyShop.com. In our opinion the world has gone too casual from a style perspective. This is our anti-casual Friday. So each week we ask you to get dressed up, encourage your co-workers to do the same, and send us a photo.

A couple of weeks ago we began a series in which we pair several of our items together for a particular look. This one is our spring gala look. It's the time of year when charities throw their yearly benefit and with any luck they're outside on a beautiful spring evening. Time for lighter and brighter colors, although we're still holding off a bit more for the seersucker and linen.

Finding Dandy - Ft. Greene Brooklyn
A well-dressed vendor at the Brooklyn Flea on Saturday. It's difficult to see because of the angle of the photo, but I enjoyed his use of a collar pin as a tie pin.

If Men Spent Half As Much For Clothes As Women
From the July 6, 1921 issue of the menswear trade magazine Chicago Apparel Magazine I found the article "If Men Spent Half As Much For Clothes As Women". The article looks at several occasions of dress for a man and a woman, comparing what the man would spend vs. the woman, and then making the point that men generally get more wear out of a given outfit compared to women (a man usually gets much more wear out of a suit than a woman does out of a dress). The article ends with the statement "Imagine how much better men of all classes would be dressed if they spent as much money for their wearing apparel as their wives do, or even if they consistently spent half as much".
