Wow. I guess it just shows the reemergence of the dandy in our modern world. MTV's reality show From G's To Gents chronicles 14 gangsters and their journey towards becoming proper gentlemen (and ultimately winning the $100,000 prize). The show is hosted by contemporary dandy, Fonzwoth Bentley, best known as having been Diddy's impeccably dressed personal assistant. It's pretty formulaic reality television but it's fascinating that MTV has gotten in on the act of promoting the dandy.

Shop Coming Together: NYC Trade Shows
What an amazing few days I've had! This week I attended the trade shows in New York for men's clothing. From the trade shows I've placed orders for ties, bow ties, cuff links, pocket squares, money clips, and tie bars. In the next few weeks I'll be placing orders for hats and wallets. I've found some great stuff and it makes me even more excited about the launch in the fall.

International Dandy: Mexico
While in Puerto Vallarta last year, I picked up the common Loteria card game which is comprised of 54 characters including these three dandys.

Dandy On TV: Project Runway's Wesley
Project Runway Season Five premiered tonight. Bravo didn't show much of him, but 23-year-old contestant Wesley promises to be a genuine dandy. I mean, with a name like Wesley, how can he be anything but?

Finding Dandy: Circle Line Ferry
Last night I was invited to a birthday party on the Circle Line Ferry. Just as we were docking, I saw this gent lining up to exit. Notice the gold buttons on his double breasted navy blazer. And the red pocket square with blue polka dots. Do you think he was purposely coordinating with his red and white sail bag?

Finding Dandy: 5th Avenue & 50th (Denied)
This afternoon I saw a gorgeous couple strolling down 5th. He was wearing a navy blue suit paired with a striped bright blue banker's shirt. A pink tie and a patterned square. The best part though, would have to be the saddle shoes. I asked for a photo and the woman waved me off and said something to him as they hurried away. I think they were non-English speaking and probably a little afraid of what I might be proposing.
Less than a block away, I saw an older gentleman wearing round specs and a yellow bowtie that really pulled his look together. Again, I asked for a photo and complimented him on his outfit. He looked a bit confused, eventually smiled and patted me on the back, and then walked away.
Does The Sartorialist experience this much rejection?

Dandys Represent: Milan Fashion Week, Spring 2009
If the New York Magazine photos from the Milan Fashion Week for Spring 2009 are any indication, the Dandy is back and more dapper than ever.
These three looks are from the D&G collection. Of course I'm loving that they're sporting bow ties. But I particularly like how in the second two they dress it down a bit (the sneakers are brilliant!). Love the contrast.
These two are also from D&G. Love the light-weight scarf.
Thanks to DSquared2, the three piece suit never looked so good.

Finding Dandy: 5th Avenue and 53rd
I did it. I saw this guy, stopped him, and asked for a photo. He was more than happy to oblige. (He even finished his phone call.) I wish that I had zoomed out a bit so you could see him from head to toe. (He was wearing flip flops!) Love the combination of dressed up and casual. Love the specs.
